Mawingu will serve as the Sole Connectivity Partner for the UltraMARAthon 2026, scheduled for 14 November 2026 in Kenya’s Maasai Mara. The partnership brings Mawingu into an event that brings together runners, conservation partners and communities to support wildlife conservation and community development.
As the event’s Sole Connectivity Partner, Mawingu will provide internet connectivity and host a booth where participants and visitors can meet the team, learn more about Mawingu’s services and explore its connectivity solutions. Mawingu also invites its Mara Biz and Max customers attending the event to stop by the booth, interact with the team and learn more about its offerings.
Bringing Sport and Conservation Together
The UltraMARAthon features a 50-kilometre trail race across the northern Maasai Mara conservancies. Participants can compete individually or take part in a two-person 25-kilometre relay or a four-person 12.5-kilometre relay. The event also includes a 3-kilometre children’s fun run.
Beyond the race, the UltraMARAthon supports wildlife conservation and community development. It brings attention to the importance of protecting the Mara’s natural environment while supporting the communities that live alongside it.
Extending Connectivity in the Mara
Mawingu’s participation builds on its existing work in the region, where it has connected 24 ranger outposts. These connections extend internet access to organisations working across the Mara’s conservation landscape.
Speaking about the partnership, Farouk Ramji, CEO said:
“Our work in the Mara goes beyond connecting people to the internet. We have already connected 24 ranger outposts, and being part of the UltraMARAthon is another opportunity to support the people and organisations doing important work in the region. We want to see connectivity put to good use, and that means understanding what people need it for.”
Mawingu’s involvement reflects its continued presence in the Mara and its work to extend connectivity to organisations and communities across the region.
