At the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Mawingu Foundation will bring together leaders from government, healthcare, technology and development to examine what it takes to make healthcare innovation work on the frontline.
On 23 September 2026 in New York, Mawingu Foundation will convene Connect, Power, Heal: Bundling Innovation and Partnership at the Health Frontline, an official UNGA81 side event held under this year’s theme, “Better Together.”
The conversation will focus on a simple reality: healthcare transformation requires more than technology.
A connected health facility needs reliable power. Clinical technology needs connectivity to reach its full potential. And solutions designed for underserved communities need the right partnerships and financing to move beyond individual projects.
The dialogue will bring these pieces together, exploring how last-mile connectivity, reliable energy and clinical technology can work together to strengthen healthcare delivery.
For Mawingu Foundation, this conversation builds on practical experience. In Makueni County, Mawingu has supported connectivity across 17 public health facilities, creating infrastructure that enables digital health solutions to reach frontline health workers. Alongside partners including the Council of Governors, Amref Health Africa, M-PESA Foundation and Proximie, this work demonstrates what is possible when connectivity and clinical technology come together.
At UNGA81, the conversation will move to the next question: how do we make these models sustainable and take them to scale?
The dialogue will explore three areas:
- Integration: How can connectivity, energy and clinical technology be deployed together around frontline needs?
- Sustainability: What financing and partnership models can support long-term deployment?
- Scale: How can solutions that work be taken beyond individual facilities and communities?
The event will also feature a short film from the frontline, bringing the conversation closer to the health workers and communities at the centre of this work.
“Better Together” is more than the theme of this year’s High-Level Week. It reflects what healthcare transformation requires: different partners bringing their capabilities together around a shared need.
