In our continued effort to bridge Kenya’s digital divide, Mawingu, East Africa’s largest Internet Service Provider focused on rural and peri-urban communities, has expanded its network to Ogembo in Kisii County.
The expansion brings affordable, fast, and reliable Internet access to households, schools, and businesses in Ogembo, opening new opportunities for learning, trade, and connection. This marks another important step in Mawingu’s mission to ensure that no community is left behind in Kenya’s digital future.
Today, Mawingu operates in over 31 counties across the country, connecting more than 28,000 homes and businesses, with the ambition of positively impacting 1,000,000 Africans by 2028 through technology that enables inclusion, growth, and opportunity.
Speaking on the Ogembo launch, Mawingu Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Farouk Ramji, emphasized the company’s commitment to extending meaningful connectivity to unserved and underserved regions.

Ogembo is a vibrant town within Kisii County, known for its strong agricultural base, growing small businesses, and learning institutions. With Mawingu’s arrival, residents can now access online learning resources, digital marketplaces, and essential online services, helping them participate more fully in the digital economy.
