Daily administration used to depend heavily on manual processes at Tetu Senior School. Recording school fees, issuing receipts, handling student registration, and communicating with education offices often took time and slowed down how smoothly the school operated.
That began to change in June 2025 when the school was connected to reliable internet through the Mawingu Foundation, as part of its mission to support schools with affordable and dependable connectivity that enables digital learning and efficient administration.
The change was gradual, but its impact is now visible across the school. For Sahara, the school bursar, the difference has been significant. Before the connection, fee tracking and record keeping were done manually, which meant a lot of paperwork and time spent updating records.
Today, she uses a digital accounting and receipting system supported by stable internet. This has made it easier to track payments, update records, and retrieve information when needed.
“Before, it would take time to confirm payments or update records. Now everything is faster and more organized. It has made my work much easier,” she says.
The administration also notes that financial reporting is now more efficient, with fewer delays and improved accuracy in school fee tracking.
The benefits of connectivity are not limited to the bursar’s office. Across the school, internet access has improved key academic and administrative processes.
Student registration has become easier through online systems, and KNEC candidate registration is now smoother. The school also communicates more quickly with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Ministry of Education.
Before Mawingu Foundation’s intervention, the school relied on another internet provider whose service was often unstable. Internet access was also limited to a few offices, which meant teachers had very little opportunity to use online learning resources.
Now, connectivity has expanded across the school, allowing more teachers to access digital materials, complete Teacher Performance Appraisal and Development tasks more efficiently, and integrate technology into their lessons.
“With reliable internet, I can now access learning materials online and prepare lessons faster. Even communication with education platforms is easier,” says one of the teachers.
Students are also beginning to feel the difference, especially in how they access information and learning resources.
“One of the biggest changes is that we can now access online materials for revision. It helps us understand topics better and prepare for exams,” says a student at the school.
The school has also benefited from digital skills training, helping both teachers and learners become more confident in using technology for learning and administration.
According to the school’s ICT teacher, the improvements have gone beyond convenience. They have strengthened how the school operates daily, improving efficiency and digital confidence among staff.
For Mawingu Foundation, the goal is not only to connect schools, but to create meaningful change in how education is delivered and managed.
According to Mawingu CEO Farouk Ramji, connectivity plays a key role in enabling opportunities and improving access to knowledge.
“When schools are connected, it changes more than just access to the internet. It improves how teachers work, how learners access information, and how institutions manage their daily operations. Each connected school is a step toward a more inclusive and opportunity-driven future.”
At Tetu Senior School, that vision is already visible. Work is more organized, communication is faster, and both teaching and administration have become more efficient.
Through Mawingu Foundation, Tetu School is steadily moving forward into a more digital future.
